Charlie Olson was brave in starting the journey so that that people could get medicine in Nome; but he would not have gone out in weather 30 degrees below zero Fahrenheit.
Gunner Carson on the other hand was the most caring man that I have ever heard of .He was willing to risk his life even as he was warned about the danger of going out in the storm. He still decided to go out in the storm to take the medicine to Nome so that many people could live. If it was me, I would not have gone out in the storm. Mr. Carson is truly a courageous man.
Balto, I believe is the true hero of the day. He guided the trip to the end. He was able to calm the other dogs so that they will make the journey He used his sense of smell effectively in getting them out of danger. Who can deny by reading this story that dogs are truly man’s best friend.
